It may only be the beginning, but so far the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with a 30% year-over-year revenue increase proving the immense popularity of these new amenities.

Orwig emphasized the brand’s efforts to maintain impeccable cleanliness and accessibility, ensuring that members can enjoy these amenities around the clock. “We designed these areas to have a spa-like atmosphere with a unique experience,” King said. “It's darker in there; it's calm. On the other side of the wall, the fitness club is loud and bright and vibrant with a lot of activity and high energy. And then in our Relax + Restore Suites, it’s quiet, peaceful and relaxing. It’s two totally different experiences, and some people are attracted to both while others prefer only one of them.”

The Relax + Restore membership, priced affordably at $59 to $69 per month, offers members exclusive access to these rejuvenating amenities along with 24/7 facility access and group fitness classes.

The suites have been a big hit with members who are staying longer, feeling better and seeing quicker results with shorter recovery periods from these amenities. 

“We are attracting a different demographic to our facilities now,” King said. “Some individuals weren’t interested in coming for the treadmills, equipment and classes. Some of our facilities have been around for almost 20 years and now we are appealing to a new group of people in that same community who want to come in and use the sauna, massage chairs, cryotherapy or percussion therapy equipment. For some, this is an avenue to work their way into fitness, and for others, it’s something they can work into their existing fitness routine.”

Looking ahead, the future of Relax + Restore is filled with possibilities. King envisions continued expansion and innovation, with plans to introduce new offerings such as cold plunge therapy. 

“We're testing cold-plunge amenities in a couple of locations right now, so we are really adapting to the recovery trend and staying ahead of the curve as it becomes a bigger priority for members. Members will be able to go from the cold plunge to the sauna and alternate back and forth, which is very beneficial in recovery and with injuries. The water in the cold plunge is held just above freezing.”
